Weston Woods, PE

President and Chief Engineer

Weston is the founder and Chief Engineer of CGL Engineering. With 36 years of engineering experience, he has led multidisciplinary design teams in bringing products to life—from straightforward mechanical solutions to highly advanced industrial equipment. He brings that breadth of experience to the development of robotics, drones, custom electronics and emerging consumer technologies.

His background in materials extends well beyond those commonly used in consumer products, bringing a broad perspective to material selection, durability and performance. His engineering approach combines physical fundamentals with practical problem solving and a commitment to turning ambitious ideas into workable products.

Weston encourages resourcefulness, self-reliance and personal initiative throughout the team. He champions a strong work ethic, ownership of technical challenges and the drive to advance technology through continuous learning and experimentation.

Optimism about the future is central to his leadership philosophy: progress begins with people who see what is possible and take the initiative to build it.

Melanie Woods

Business Partner and Chief Talent Officer

Since 2012, Melanie has played an instrumental role in building CGL Engineering’s highly technical team, recruiting professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and bringing together the skills needed to support complex engineering projects.

She also leads the product testing division, where she has built and guided specialized testing groups for each product. Her work connects technical evaluation with practical feedback to help teams understand how products perform in use.

Melanie is currently developing a consumer panel of specialized product analysts to bring focused user perspectives into the evaluation of emerging consumer technologies.

Charles Woods

Engineering Team Leader

Charles brought immediate capability to CGL Engineering through his skills in CAD design, 3D prototype production, shop testing and team leadership. He provides hands-on engineering support and ad hoc technical services, adapting readily to the varied demands of product development.

His versatility and tenacity have made him a go-to resource for assignments that demand close attention, persistent follow-through and practical problem solving. When difficult projects arise, Charles takes ownership of the challenge and works steadily toward a solution.

Charles is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas and is a proven leader in the U.S. Army ROTC program. He brings initiative, discipline and a collaborative approach to his work with the engineering team.
